Richard T. Detchon

Austintown- Richard T. Detchon passed away Thursday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Dick was born August 6, 1926 in Austintown the son of Howard and Elvaretta (Baringer) Detchon and was a life long area resident. Dick was the owner and operator of Detchon Television in Austintown from 1946 to 1995. He was a former member of Austintown Community Church, graduated from Fitch High School in 1945 and attended Kent State University for two years. Dick served in the US Army during the Korean War. He is survived by children; James (Joanne) Detchon of Wampum, PA., Scott (Julie) Detchon of Boardman, step son Robert Marino of Santa Rosa, CA. grandchildren; Jennifer, Jessica, Tara and Jackson and his sister Twila Evans in California. Dick was preceded in death by his wife Beverly E. (Ricketts) Detchon whom he married in 1959 and who died in 1993. A Memorial service celebrating Dick’s life will be held at a later date. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
