Funeral services will be held 10 am Wednesday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes Austintown Chapel for Richard T. Hansel Sr. of Austintown who died Saturday evening at the Hospice House. Mr. Hansel was born October 29, 1924 in Boardman the son of Michael and Mary Hansel and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from The Rayen High School in January 1943. Mr. Hansel served in the United States Navy during World War II. He then married Katherine Pace of June 29, 1947. Mr. Hansel worked for the James G. Pardee Co., and later was employed in management and sales for H.J. Heinz Company for 30 years. He was a member of the St. Albans Lodge #677 F&AM. He was also an active member of the Austintown Community Church. His hobbies were flower gardening and fishing. He is survived by his children: June (Brad) Booth of Pleasant Gardens, NC Kathy Ruth Russell of Youngstown and Richard T. Jr. and Robert D. both of Austintown; seven grandchildren: three great grandchildren; and a brother Michael of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57 years, H. Katherine Hansel; brother: Frederick Hansel and step brothers Gerhard and Alfred Krauss. Friends may call from 5 pm until 7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
