Richard Wayne Ford

Richard W. Ford, of Lordstown, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in the coronary care unit at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was 84 years old. Mr. Ford was born on July 15, 1925 in Warren the son of the late Grover C. and Huldah (Dunlap) Ford. He retired after 43 years as a die setter at Packard Electric. Along with being a lifetime farmer, Mr. Ford was a 44 year member of the Lordstown Village Fire Department, where he served as Chief for many years. He was past president of the Trumbull County Firemen's Association and also served on the Lordstown Village Council for four years. He enjoyed farming and fishing. Mr. Ford was married on April 15, 1947 to Hazel Marie Lutz and she preceded him in death on December 18, 1979. Mr. Ford is survived by his seven children Phyllis (John) Hadley of North Carolina, twin daughters Janet (Jerry) Rodgers and Joyce (Don) Prokop both of Lordstown, Glenn Ford of Virginia Beach, David Ford of Lordstown and twins Roger Ford of Houston, TX and Diane (Rick) Hawkins of Euharlee, GA; three sisters Aldyth Graham of Blufton, Marion Lutz of Leavittsburg and Virginia Lutz of Ravenna; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Lester, Henry and Robert Ford and by three sisters Pauline McKibben, Enola Wilson and Dortha Erhart. Calling hours will take place on Friday, May 21, 2010 from 5 until 8 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave, Austintown, Ohio, 44515. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lordstown Village Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the Lordstown Village Fire Department in Chief Ford's name. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to all of the staff and friends at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Home in Niles for the care and friendship they gave to Mr. Ford during his time there.
