Robert Allen Welch

Robert Allen Welch, 68, of Salem passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning at Northside Hospital in Youngstown. Bob was born January 25, 1943 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard C. and Olive Ruth (Fielding) Welch. Bob graduated from Fitch High School in 1961 and from Ohio University in 1966. He became a Certified Public Accountant and retired from the accounting department of The Cafaro Company on December 31, 2008. Bob was a great soccer fan and especially enjoyed watching his sons play soccer. He also enjoyed car racing and his "Where's George" hobby. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 43 years Cheryl Akins Welch, three sons and two daughter-in-laws; Charlie and Sarah of Greer, SC, Rob and Holly of Upper Arlington and Allen of Cincinnati. He will also be missed by his by his brother and sister-in-law Arnie and Nancy of Austintown, his Uncle Kenny and Aunt Kay Welch of Canfield, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Speedy and Joanne Akins of Richmond Hill, GA, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bob will be greatly missed by the family pets Lucky, Slider and Boris. Friends may call from 10 AM until 11 AM Saturday August 6, 2011 at the chapel in Green Haven Memorial Gardens where a memorial service will be held at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice in Bob's name. Arrangements were by the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel.
