YOUNGSTOWN- Robert "Bob" Chandler Humes, 91, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Hospice House in Poland. He was born on May 6, 1925 in Warren, OH, son to the late Earl J. and Lessie (Tucker) Humes. Bob was a 1945 South High School graduate and went on to work at Youngstown Sheet and Tube as a metallurgical group leader for 35 years before his retirement in December of 1977. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church of West Austintown and a life-long Methodist. He was also involved with the Masonic Lodge #677 and the Scottish Rite Valley of Youngstown. Bob was a Democrat and enjoyed bowling with his bowling league. He also found joy in his pet dog, George, and will be remembered taking him out for walks. Left to carry on his memory are his nieces and nephew, Susan (Martin) Lehtonen-Crawford, Lisa Ellen Lehtonen-Gay, and Rick (Linda) Lehtonen; and his sister-in-law, Irene Gela Lehtonen. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 4 years, Olga Vera Gela, who passed in 1979; and his brother, Robert C. Humes. The family will receive friends from 11AM-12 Noon on Tuesday, July 5 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave. A funeral service will follow at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob's memory to First United Methodist Church of West Austintown, 6749 Mahoning Ave., or to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrot Rd.
