Robert E. Schrader

April 13, 1941 — October 16, 2011

Funeral services will be 11 am Friday at Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Robert E. Schrader who passed away Sunday at St. Joseph Medical Center. Bob was born April 13, 1941 in Warren, a son of the late Eugene H. and Eleanor M. (Bowker) Schrader. A 1959 graduate of Lordstown High School and proud third generation Lordstown resident, he worked at Martin Chevrolet and Stackhouse Olds before retiring in 2006 from the Lordstown Village Road Department after 21 years. Bob loved to stir the pot. He could get you to do something out of the ordinary. He would say "Just do it everyone will laugh." Bob was a class act agitator. He would answer to Bob or Schrader. He kept everyone on their toes with his sense of humor. Bob drove his #74 stock car at Canfield Speedway, Expo, and Lernersville Speedway. He was a good drag racer. He liked the slower cars but totally enjoyed watching his wife drive the fast cars. He raced at Howland Drag Strip, Quaker City, Sunset, Ohio Drag City, Eldora, WV, Dragway 42, Magnolia, Thompson Drag Strip, and at Indianapolis The Summer Nationals. His enjoyments included fast, special cars, his tractors and farm equipment, and farm machinery auctions. His extensive knowledge of Farmall equipment was well known. One of his greatest pleasures was owning a Farmall H tractor, selling it to a neighbor and have it become known as "Pinky", the winning tractor puller. Bob also enjoyed watching NASCAR races, especially the late Dale Earnhardt. Bob will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Donna J. Kovic, whom he married September 18, 1963; a sister in law Kay E. Kovic Arlow of Lordstown; two cousins: Donna Squires of Mineral Ridge and Diane Natoli of Niles, and several other cousins. Besides his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his father and mother in law: Nick M. and Julia H. Kovic; a brother in law: Robert Arlow; three aunts and a "special" Aunt Helen. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or a charity of the donor's choice in Bob's name. Friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Thursday and from 10:30 am until the time of the services Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel.
