Robert J. Yeckel

Services will be held 1 PM Monday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Robert J. Yeckel, 79, of Austintown who passed away Wednesday evening at his home. Robert was born June 28, 1932 in Youngstown the son of George and Rose (Barringer) Yeckel and was a graduate of South High School class of 1951. Bob retired in 1991 as the Chief of Police for Mill Creek Park. After his retirement, Bob worked for Lyden Oil for 15 years. Bob had been a head coach for the Austintown Little Falcons for years. He enjoyed all sports, gardening, fishing and gaming casinos. His wife the former JoAnn Smith, whom he married June 16, 1956, passed away August 5, 1997. Bob leaves four daughters; Renee (Bob) Dick of Fort Myers FL, Tammy (Jim) Cordova of Dayton, Terri (Joe) Pence of Dayton and Bobbi-Jo Yeckel of Xenia OH, two sisters; Millie Kemble and Delores Ferguson both of Youngstown, six grandchildren; Robert M. Dick, Ryan M. Dick, James D. Cordova III, Amanda Pence, Joe Pence III and Colton J. Pence, and his companion Mary Helen Wilson of Boardman. Besides his parents and wife, Bob is preceded in death by three brothers; Chuck, Leroy, and George, three sisters; Rose, Virginia, and Ann and two infant siblings. Friends may call from 2 to 5 PM Sunday and again from noon to 1 PM Monday at the funeral home where a service will be held at 1 PM with full military honors to take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
