Robert L Baxter

Brookfield - Robert Laird Baxter, 79, went home to be with his Lord, February 4, 2015. Robert was born on April 25, 1935 in Masury, OH a son of John and Isabel (Abernathy) Baxter. He was a lifelong resident of Brookfield, OH and a 1953 graduate of Brookfield High School. He was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed volunteering at Hartford United Methodist Church Youth Club. He was employed at Harvell for 13 years and retired in 1995 from Graphite Products after 28 years. Bob loved going to his summer home in Andover. He loved taking golf cart rides with his beloved dog, Puglee. He is survived by wife Cora Christy Baxter whom he married on September 29, 2001; his son Donald and wife Andrea Baxter of Brookfield; step-daughters Mrs. Robert (Ellen) Cross and Joanne Womer, both of West Middlesex, PA; stepsons Eugene Christy, of Hermitage, PA and Richard Christy of Stuart Drafts, VA; sisters, Mrs. James (Betsy) Sharley of Morgantown, W. VA, Sally Baxter of Leetonia, OH and Mrs. Terry (Lovie) Swogger, Masury, OH, brothers, Thomas Baxter of Warren, OH and James (Katie) Baxter of Girard, OH; grandsons, James Baxter of Akron, OH and Phil Baxter of Kinsman, OH; a great granddaughter Nevaeh; 11 step grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews He was preceded by his parents, his first wife, Phyllis Waid Baxter, a stepson Elmer Christy IV , three brothers William"Bud", Silas, and infant John Baxter; three sisters, Jane Kulikowsky, Agnes Allan, and Peg Nalley, three nieces, and one nephew. Funeral Services will be held for Robert on Sunday February 8, 2015 at 11:00AM at Lane Family Funeral Homes - Madasz Chapel located at 6923 Warren-Sharon Road Brookfeld, OH 44403 Family and friends may call from 4-6:00PM on Saturday February 7, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Brookfield Township Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
