Robert Mayes Brown

Robert Mayes Brown, of Niles, passed away Friday evening at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born January 22, 1926 in Brookville, PA a son of the late Thomas and Mary Glendora (Mayes) Brown. He had worked at Daniel Motor Fright and Easzor Trucking. He was President and co-owner of Steel Truck Rental with a partner for 18 years. Then he was Vice President, Sales Manager, and co-owner of Youngstown-Kenworth Inc. in Hubbard, retiring in 1988. Bob was a notary, a supervisor of the International Boxing Commission and a Navy Veteran of WWII, serving on the USS North Carolina. Robert is survived by his wife, the former Winifred M. Gruber, whom he married December 28, 1949; a daughter: Sandra Reno of McDonough, GA; a son Robert D. Brown of Austintown; three grandchildren: Robert M. Reno of Atlanta, GA, Jenny Reno of McDonough, GA, and Beau David Brown of Austintown; two great granddaughters: Grace and Alice Reno of Atlanta, GA; two brothers Richard Brown of Girard and William Brown of Palm Bay, FL; and a sister Ruth Ann Bing of Cleveland. At Bob’s request there are no calling hours or services. The family has entrusted Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel to handle the arrangements.
