Robert R. Baun

Funeral services will be held at 6pm Monday in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Robert R. Baun who died Friday morning at his residence. He was born August 3, 1934 in Youngstown, a son of Russell W. and Eleanor (Mcanally) Baun and he resided in this area all of his life. He worked as a crane hooker for Youngstown Steel Door for 31 years before retiring in 1982. He had also worked as a custodian for the Austintown Local Schools for 13 years before retiring in 1997. He was a longtime member of the Millcreek Baptist Church and most recently was a member of Upper Room Ministries in Austintown. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren, and he loved the Lord with all of his heart. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Jacqueline Russell, whom he married January 9, 1960. He also leaves behind four children; William R. (Cindy) Baun of Boardman, Randi A. (Susan) Baun of Austintown, Linda Medlick of Austintown, and Robert (Doreen) Baun of Claremont, NC; two brothers; Charles Baun, and Thomas (Mary Lou) Baun, both of Austintown; a sister Patricia Baun also of Austintown; fourteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Gary Patrick, and a sister Rosemary Baun. Friends may call from 4-6pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place Tuesday preceded by a brief prayer service at 11am in the funeral home prior to procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Robert’s memory to Hospice of The Valley. Robert’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Hospice of The Valley, and especially his nurse Cheryl, for all of the kind and compassionate care he received.
