Rodney "Tam" P. Ritter

Rodney Paul “Tam” Ritter, 82, of Leavittsburg died Wednesday evening, November 7, 2007 at his home after an extended illness. Born November 30, 1924 in Garrett, IN, he was the son of the late Clarence and Helen (Gregory) Ritter. A graduate of Warren Twp. High School, Tam was a resident of Leavittsburg for most of his life. He served in the United States Army during World War II with 720th Engineers. Tam completed a tour in the South Pacific at the Guada Canal and attained the rank of Sergeant. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Tam began work at Warren Concrete and Supply as a Concrete Mix driver. He retired in 1984 after 36 years with the company. Tam also worked independently as a concrete finisher. Tam was an avid bowler and most recently bowled on the senior mixed league on Friday mornings at Freeway Lanes, formerly Rainbow Lanes. Tam enjoyed fishing and loved casinos. He took several trips to Las Vegas, Erie, West Virginia and various other cities to visit casinos. In his younger days, Tam and his wife raced stock cars at the old Southington Speedway. Most of all, he enjoyed his family. Tam will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Billie J. (Gibson) Ritter whom he married April 28, 1943. Together they shared 64 years of marriage and two children. Tam is survived by a son, Rodney A. “Rod”(Judith) Ritter of Leavittsburg; a daughter Cheri J. (Dick) Iler of Southington, 6 grandchildren, Robert(Kim) Ritter, Candee(Scott) Stone, Michealle(Tony) Gabrovsek, Lynne Ritter, Chris(Julie) Iler and Chad(Kellie) Iler, and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson Timothy Paul Ritter and by five brothers, Bob, Nub, Bink, Pete, and Ronnie Ritter. Elder Carson Marvin will conduct a funeral service Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 12 Noon at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel where family and friends may visit for one hour prior to the service. Cremation will take place concluding the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Forum Health at Home Hospice at 8747 Squires Lane NE Warren, OH 44484
