Roger H. Hetzel

Roger H. Hetzel, age 86, of Cortland, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 2:09 AM at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren. Mr. Hetzel was born on May 11, 1926 in Buffalo, New York, the son of the late Milton S. and Edna Burkholtz Hetzel. Roger received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cleveland State University in journalism. He was President of Decker Reichert Steel Company and retired after 25 years of service. He was an honorably discharged US Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. Survivors include his children, Gary (Jonnah) Hetzel of Cortland, Peggy (Les) Colburn of Bradenton, Fl, and Mark (Cathy) of Weaverville, NC; five grandchildren, Meghan and Nicholas Hetzel, Whitney Colburn, Kristin Homann, and Bre Hetzel; one great-grandson, Austin Homann. Other than his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his wife, the former Geraldine D. Dublino in July 16, 2010, they were united in marriage on November 11, 1950; one son, David Hetzel; brother, Milton Hetzel and sister, Ruth Sauer. A private family service will be held to honor his life and have been entrusted to the care of the Shafer-Winans Chapel, a Lane Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
