Roger W. Hatfield

November 24, 1948 — April 13, 2018

Music producer and saxophonist Roger W. Hatfield, 69, passed away Friday, April 13 at Bridge Hospice in Findlay, OH. The son of the deceased Harold and Ruth Baker, Roger grew up in Warren, OH. As a young adult, he spent time playing saxophone with various bands on the nightclub circuit in eastern Ohio and throughout Florida. He was drafted into the US Army and proudly served his country. Roger was a forerunner by producing some of the first physical fitness videos including the popular "Pace Walk" with Joannie Greggains and "Tai Bo" with Billy Banks. In 2005 he won a Grammy Award for producing the years best childrens album, "Songs from the Neighborhood," a tribute to Mr. Rogers. He married Doris Charlene Bickel and they were later divorced. She survives. On April 23, 2006, he married Cynthia Meyer, who survives. Roger is survived by his sons, Jonathan (Sara), North Royalton, OH; Michael (Julie), Charlotte, NC; Christopher (Remi), Baltimore, MD; Joseph (Christi) Dunlap, MacDonald, OH; stepson, Alex Meyer, Boston, MA and grandchildren Samantha, Miles, Hallie, Logan, Matt, Xavier, Maggie and Clara. He is also survived by his half-sister Janice Buck, Truth or Consequences, NM; and half-brother, Jerry Faller, Alliance, OH. Roger was a funny, generous, loving man who thoroughly enjoyed mentoring various musicians through the years. He was a lover of God, people, animals and music. Roger was an avid gardener, fisherman and Cleveland sports fan. He loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and keeping track of their many accomplishments. A memorial service will be held at Lane Funeral Home, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren, OH 44483 on Saturday, April 21 at 11 a.m., with Reverend Paul Gaug presiding. Family members will receive those who want to offer personal condolences immediately prior to the service from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will take place at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Hermitage, PA.
