North Jackson- Ronald A. James Jr. went home to be with the Lord after losing a two year battle with cancer on Monday, January 23rd at 12:54 a.m. at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Shadyside in Pittsburgh, PA. Ron was born March 8, 1950 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio the son of Ronald A. James Sr. and Martha (Johns) James. Ron is survived by his parents of North Jackson; his wife Jo Ann (Frederick) James; three sons, Ronnie James III of Austintown, Steve James and wife Lisa of Mineral Ridge, Ryan James of North Jackson; four grandchildren, Julia (9), Seth (9), Hannah (7) and Zachary (1). He is also survived by four brothers; Leonard James of Warren, Rob James and wife Leisa of Berlin Center, Cliff James II of Youngstown, Troy James and wife Victoria of Salem and one sister Lisa Lee and husband Steve of Salem; 18 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents Clifford and Bessie James and Milton and Mary Johns, and a niece and nephew. Ron graduated from Jackson Milton High School in 1968 and was forever proud of being a “Blue jay” where he was a tremendous athlete and scholar winning the Billy Patton award for top student/athlete in his graduating class. After high school he graduated from Youngstown State University in 1973 with a major in political science and minor in economics. After a brief stint with Republic Steel and working with his father at Cliff James Trailer Sales, he opted for a career in the financing side of the manufactured housing business. In 1974 he went to work for Mobile Consultants, Inc. based in Hudson, OH (later moving to Alliance) and subsequently purchased the company in 1980 where he remained President and CEO until 1999 when he retired at the age of 49. Ron was a very generous and humble boss who earned the respect of his employees by demonstrating honesty and integrity while leading by example. After his retirement Ron enjoyed traveling with his wife Jo Ann where they spent an abundance of time in the Florida Keys, Myrtle Beach and Cook Forest, PA. Throughout his life he was an avid sports fan and upon his retirement became a Cleveland Indians season ticket holder where he enjoyed many games with his friends and family. Between trips, Ron stayed busy at the Fifth Season Restaurant in Austintown (Owned by his son Steve and daughter in law Lisa) where he was instrumental in the creation of the wine list and was the very proud author of a list that has been honored with two consecutive Awards of Excellence by Wine Spectator Magazine which recognizes the top restaurants for wine selection in the world. Ron was a great husband and father, as well as an extremely loyal friend who will be sadly missed by those he left behind. For us there is only one King James and he doesn’t wear wine and gold and play basketball in downtown Cleveland.
