Ronald Brown

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel for Ronald A. Brown, 91 of Boardman who died Sunday evening at Beeghly Oaks. Ronald was born December 4, 1920 in Nelson, South Wales , a son of the late Edward F. and Dorothy Patfield Brown and came to this area in 1926. Ronald served in the Army Air Force during World War II where he was a tail gunner. He had been a P.O.W and had been a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a skilled tradesman and had worked for AA Samuels Sheet Metal for 25 years and then General Motors Corporation for 21 years, retiring in 1985. Ronald was a member of New Life Church in Poland. He loved attending church, enjoyed stamp collecting and model cars. He had also served on the Board of Directors of Forest Lawn Memorial Park for 2 terms. He leaves his wife, the former Gertrude W. Samuels whom he married April 18, 1941; 3 sons, Ronald E. (Mayra) Brown of Boardman, Thomas D. (Paula) Brown of Mission Viejo, California, William F. (Elizabeth) Brown of Cortland; a sister, Betty Goddard of Boardman; and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the funeral at the funeral Home.
