Rosanna Fencyk, 8151 Ohio Street, SE, Masury, Ohio, died on Wednesday, August 23, 2006, around 8:35 PM, at the Sharon Regional Hospital. She was born on March 7, 1920 in Farrell, PA to Angelo Sam Nicastro and Calogera (Pitelli) Nicastro. Rosanna was a 1938 graduate of Brookfield High School, and a 1939 graduate of the former Shenango Valley Institute of Business. She was a 1947 graduate of the former Christian H. Buhl School of Nursing Cadet Program, and was a recipient of the Florence Nightingale Medical Award. Rosanna was a former Girl Scout Leader of Sacred Heart Troop 31; a member of the United Services Organization (USO) during WWII; a former member of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine at Sacred Heart Church; and the Masury Ladies Knights of Columbus. As a former member of the Trumbull County League of Women Voters, she was Chairman of the “Know your County” study, released in 1977. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, swimming, music & dancing. She was formerly employed as Office Secretary by the Boy Scouts of America; Office Manager of Valley View Department Store during the 1960’s; and was employed by Carine and Company, and T & C Auto Center. Rosanna was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, who died in June 2000; by her sister Carmella Trinckes; and by her brothers, Samuel & Peter Nicastro. Surviving are a son, M.Todd Fencyk, and his wife, Jeanne, of Masury; two sisters, Julia Ferrara and Nellie Laslow, both of Brookfield; and two grandchildren, Bryan & Michael Fencyk. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-7 PM. Burial will be St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Hermitage, PA. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests contributions can be made to the Eagle Scout Project Trust Fund c/o Cortland Bank, checks made payable to: Troop 26, Brookfield, Ohio.
