Rose Marie Chelekis

NEW WATERFORD-There will be a funeral service held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 10, 2008 in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Rose Marie Chelekis, 90, who passed away at 4:03AM in Parkside Health Care in Columbiana. Rose was born March 1, 1917 in Youngstown, OH the daughter of the late Daniel and Anna (Petrisko) Eleick. Rose was the owner of the Dorm Houses at Youngstown State University for twenty years and also worked for Brass Rail Restaurant in Downtown Youngstown, Blue Crystal in Girard and also for the Mahoning County Recorders Office. Rose was of the catholic faith and a former member of Sts. Christine and Dominic Catholic Churches. She was also a member of the Western Mahoning County Kiwanis Club, Masonic Auxillary, and Youngstown Kennel Club. Rose is survived by two sons William McKenzie of Anchorage, Alaska; and Daniel (Joyce) McKenzie of New Waterford, OH; five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husbands William McKenzie and George Chelekis; a sister Pauline Doren, and a brother Peter Eleick. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 from 5 until 8 PM in the funeral home.
