Rose Marie Sorrentino

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10am Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Austintown for Rose M. Sorrentino, 81 who died early Sunday evening at Briarfield Manor Nursing Home in Austintown. She was born April 24, 1928 in Youngstown, the daughter of Anthony and Clara (Amodio) Santangelo, and she resided in this area all of her life. She was a 1946 graduate of Youngstown East High School and she spent her adult life as a homemaker raising her four children. She was a charter member of St. Joseph Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, reading mystery novels, and working crossword and number puzzles. Rose was a kind and loving lady and she will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lawrence T. Sorrentino, Sr. whom she married October 18, 1947. She also leaves behind two sons; Lawrence (Connie) Sorrentino, Jr. of Mineral Ridge, and Mark (Jane Miller) Sorrentino of Austintown; two daughters; Karen (Charles) Cowher of Baytown, Texas, and Toni Sorrentino of Winter Garden, Fla; a brother John (Virginia) Santangelo of Altamonte Springs, Fla; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call from 5-8pm Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel.
