Rose Marie Vaccar

Rose Marie Vaccar, of Canfield and formerly of Girard, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in Omni West Assisted Living in Youngstown. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Vaccar was born on August 8, 1922 in Girard the daughter of the late Samuel and Maria (Sabia) Gerdine and moved from Girard to Canfield in 2000. A 1941 graduate of Girard High School, Mrs. Vaccar also attended Youngstown College for two years. She worked for Yeager's in Akron for 10 years and also for Griswold's in Warren for 10 years before retiring from ITT Grinnell as a bookkeeper. A member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard, Mrs. Vaccar was a member of the Mt. Carmel Society and the Altar & Rosary Society of the church. Mrs. Vaccar was married on November 8, 1948 to Charles Vaccar and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1965. Mrs. Vaccar is survived by two sons Ronald C. Vaccar and Carl J. (Robin) Vaccar all of Canfield; a sister Helen Clemente of Pulaski, PA; and two grandchildren Aaron and Ariel Vaccar. Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Vaccar was preceded in death by a brothers Phillip, Carmen (Muzzy) and Joe Gerdine; and sisters Dolly Sherman, Mary Pulumbi, Nancy Dombrosky and Julia Palmer. A Memorial Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in St. Rose Catholic Church, 48 E. Main Street, Girard, with Fr. John Trimbur officiating, where family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass in the vestibule of the church. Inurnment will follow in Girard City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Omni West Assisted Living. Arrangements were entrusted to the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel.
