Rosemarie (Brandenstein) Thiry, 84, of Cortland, passed away Sunday evening, February 5, 2012 in Trumbull Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Born December 29, 1927 in Mineral Ridge, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Saar) Brandenstein. A lifetime area resident, Rosemarie was a dedicated wife and mother. She worked briefly as a bank teller until beginning her family and then focused her time an attention toward being a homemaker. She was a member of St. Roberts Catholic Church and enjoyed word search puzzles. Rosemarie will be dearly missed by her loving husband, William J. Thiry of Cortland whom she married April 23, 1955 and with whom she has shared 56 years of marriage, by their children; Cathy (Dan) Moore of Paris Twp., Nancy (John) Davidson of Cortland, Joseph (Lynn) Thiry of Newton Falls, Chuck Thiry of Warren and Bill Thiry at home in Cortland, five grandchildren; Samantha (Harley) Lightfoot, Christopher Moore, Melissa (John) Pugh, and Laura and Adam Thiry, a great granddaughter, Taylor Lightfoot and her siblings; Chuck Brandenstein, Edna Miller, Esther Bogatay, Jerry (Marge) Brandenstein and Ginny (Bill) Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Edward Thiry and by a brother Bob Brandenstein. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 5 until 7PM at Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel and also Thursday morning from 9 until 9:30AM at which time family and friends will process from the funeral home to St. Roberts Catholic Church where Rev. Carl Kish will celebrate a funeral Mass at 10AM. Rosemarie will be buried next to her son in All Souls Cemetery.
