Roy Elton Hall

Roy Elton Hall, 77, passed away April 13, 2012, from pancreatic cancer at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born June 14, 1934 in Lomita, CA, a son of the late Richard and Fern Hall. He was a graduate of San Pedro High School, San Pedro CA. He graduated from Northrop Institute of Technology, Los Angeles, CA, with graduate studies at the University of Southern California. He worked as an Electrical Engineer in the Space Program at North American Rockwell Aviation prior to moving to Canfield, OH in May 1970. He was employed at Trumbull Consultants in Niles and Canfield; URS Corporation and Morrison- Knudsen Corp, both in Cleveland; Polytech, Inc, Pittsburgh, PA. He retired in 2000, but continued to work part time for Olander Engineering, Inc, in Carnegie, PA until 2010. He was a member of the Ellsworth Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth and served as an Elder for 16 years. He was also a member of Canfield Lion's Club. Roy served in the US Army in Verdun, France from 1958 until 1960. Surviving is his wife, Darla N. (Luckenbill) Hall, of Canfield, whom he married June 22, 1968; a daughter: Leslie A. Hall of Fishers, IN and a brother Gary S. Hall (Audrey) of Oceanside, CA. Roy enjoyed his home, his family, reading, gardening, and especially sailing with his brother in Southern California. He travelled with his family on numerous trips throughout the United States as well as in Europe and Central America. He was particularly interested in history, the Civil War and World War II periods, and made many excursions with family and friends to visit and explore battlefields. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Fern Hall. Services will be held at 1 pm Tuesday at the Lane Family Funeral Home Canfield Chapel, where friends may be received from 4 pm until 7 pm Monday and again from noon until 1 pm Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Canfield Lion's Club or Hospice of the Valley of Youngstown (Columbiana Branch)
