Roy I. Colbrunn, 88, passed away Thursday morning, August 6, 2015 at Hospice House in Poland. Roy was born on November 19, 1926 in Youngstown, OH, a son of the late Walter Irving Colbrunn and Julia (Connelley) Colbrunn. He attended Liberty High School until he joined the United States Navy to serve his country during World War II on May 15, 1944. He served as a Seaman First Class V6 and received the Victory World War II Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal with two starts, and the Philippine Liberation Medal with one star. He was employed as a serviceman for Fisher Appliance in Youngstown and with Packard Electric until he retired in 1990. He belonged to the Youngstown Scuba Club and was a rescue diver for the Ohio State Patrol. He was a Captain at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department and EMT for over 25 years. Roy loved to go camping, traveling, and spending the winters in Florida. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He enjoyed his wife's good cooking; especially her homemade black berry pies. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Beverly (Lawrence) Colbrunn, whom he married on July 21, 1956 and were married for 59 years; his children, Roy (LuAnn) Colbrunn of Xenia, Chris (Donna) Colbrunn of Cortland, Cheri (Mike) Ponikvar of Vienna, and Jackie (Tom) Arbanas of Chicora, PA; seven grandchildren, Kaleena (Tony) Albertini, Jenna and Jacob Colbrunn, Mike and Ashley Ponikvar, and Alexandra and Andrew Arbanas; two step grandchildren, Jasen (Katherine) White and Terry (Amanda) White; three great grandchildren, Caleb, Annaliese, and Kayleigh Albertini; two step great-grandchildren, Rose and Lilly; two brothers, Walter (Patricia) Colbrunn of Austintown and Robert (Sandra) Colbrunn of Maricopa, AZ; and three sisters, Audrey Coursen of Hubbard, Carole Malleske of Austintown, and Nancy Booth of Austintown. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Colbrunn, and his sister Norma Wellington. Funeral services for Roy will be held on Saturday August 8, 2015 at 5:00PM at Lane Family Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel in Brookfield, OH. Family will receive friends from 2-5:00PM on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the funeral home.
