Roy James Pratt Jr.

Roy James Pratt Jr., 76 of Vienna passed away at 7:50pm Friday March 5, 2010 at Juniper Village in Sharon. Born in Struthers on December 10, 1933, Roy is the son of Roy James Sr. and Agnes Weir (Ormiston) Pratt. A 1951 graduate of Struthers High School, Roy was a lifetime area resident. In 1954 Roy enlisted into the US Navy where he served for 4 years. Following his service in the Navy, Roy went on to The Air Force Reserves, where he received a certificate of proficiency in medium jet bomber as an aircraft mechanic. Following his honorable discharge from the military, Roy advanced his education and went on to graduate from Youngstown State University in 1972 with his bachelor's degree in English Literature. Roy retired as a master electrician at Delphi Packard in Warren. In his spare time, Roy enjoyed Harley-Davidson motorcycles, airplanes, flying, fireworks and tinkering with various gadgets. He is survived by his children; David M. (Betty) Pratt of Sharpsville, PA, Roy J. (Joyce) Pratt III of Vienna, Brian W. (Patty) Pratt of Valencia, CA, Karen (Brian) Reed of McDonald, Deborah Hudak of Lowellville Michael (Anne) Pratt of 29 Palms, CA, Jennifer (Steven) Prout of Twinsburg, and Daughter in law Andria Pratt of Valencia, CA; two sisters Marilyn (William) of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Carol Maizel of Struthers, 17 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Daniel Pratt, a grandson, Nicholas Adam Pratt and Stepmother Catherine L. Pratt. There will be no calling hours. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. The family has asked that material contributions be made in Roy's memory to Southern Care Hospice, 2656 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16150 Lane Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel handled the arrangements.
