AUSTINTOWN- Roy L. Martin, 94, of Austintown, passed away January 29, 2014 at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home. Roy was born March 3, 1919 in Farmington, WV, son of Fred and Ethel (Hallam) Martin. He was a proud Army veteran serving in WWII. He fought during the battle of the bulge and received a purple heart. He retired from Schwebels Bakery in 1981. After retirement Roy enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach, SC. He was an avid Browns and Buckeye fan and enjoyed Bingo. Roy is survived by his children; Carolee (Jerry) Treharn of Austintown, Richard (Linda) Martin of Austintown, Barbara Martin of Niles, Margaret (Keith) Hood of Austintown; step son, Paul Capretta of Colorado; 12 grandchildren, Lauren, Steven, Dave, Lisa, Rich, Sherry, Tracy, Michael, John, Elizabeth Ann, Don and Alyssa; 14 great grandchildren and one brother, Marl "Bud" Martin of Cortland. He was predeceased by his first wife Winona (Newman); second wife, Wilma (Vaupel); daughter, Sarah Gerlach; step son, David Capretta; sister, Dorothy Takach and two brothers, John and Earl Martin. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the Old North Church 7105 Herbert Rd., Canfield, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private burial will follow in Brunstetter Cemetery.
