RUBY M. MARSHALL, 84 NEW MIDDLETOWN--- There will be a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 3rd at Locust Grove Baptist Church for Ruby M. Marshall, 84, who died Saturday, April 5th at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center. Mrs. Marshall was born April 14, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of Reuben and Effie Lawson McDorman. Ruby came to the area as a teenager and graduated from North Lima High School in 1947. She began working as a secretary for YBM and then became an administrative assistant with Campus Life Youth for Christ for over 20 years, retiring in 2003. Ruby loved music and working with youth. She devoted her life to serving the Lord and helping young people. She started both Campus Echoes, a youth choir and the Sound Idea. Ruby also served as the music director for the Beaver Township Community Chorus. Ruby was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and was also affiliated with the former Western Reserve Baptist Church. She served as the choir director at Locust Grove for many years and also played the piano. In her spare time, Ruby enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She leaves her sister, Florence Catherine McDorman of Canton, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. Her husband of 60 years, John "Jack" W. Marshall, whom she married July 8, 1950 died in 2010. Her brothers, William Rufus, Harold, and Ellwood are also deceased. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 A.M. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Ruby's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512 or any faith based organization of the donors choice.
