A memorial service will be held 11am Thursday in the chapel at Lake Park Cemetery for Ruth Annabelle Schiller, 84 of Boardman who passed away Saturday morning in Shepherd of the Valley Care Center. Ruth was born April 10, 1921 in Bessemer PA, the daughter of Oscar and Maud B. (Murphy) Niece. She was a graduate of Bessemer High School class of 1939. Ruth worked for Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman for 6 years in the Dietary Department where she was in charge of the desserts. She also had worked for Baldwin Wallace College where she was on a 5 year research music project, then Ruth was the Administrative Secretary for the Senior Minister of the Berea United Methodist Church for 4 years before going to work for the Lakewood Congregational Church in Lakewood Ohio as the Administrative Secretary to the Senior Minister for 23 years retiring in 1995. In November of 2002, Ruth was named employee of the month for Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman and later was named employee of the year for 2002 for all Shepherd of the Valley locations. Ruth was a member of United Presbyterian Church in Salem. She loved playing the organ, gardening, crocheting, and truly enjoyed the outdoors. Ruth was a real people person. Her husband Kenneth E. Schiller, whom she married May 8 1941, passed away December 8, 1980. Ruth leaves two daughters Linda K. (Ed) Guckiean of Cleveland, and Karen E. (Larry) Blaser of Scottsdale AZ, and four grandchildren; Alan, Holly, Tiffany and Princess Erin and 2 great grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, Ruth is preceded in death by one sister Lorene O’Neil and twin brothers Glen and Clair Niece. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel. The family requests material donations to be made to Shepherd of the Valley Boardman Campus C/O: 5529 Silica Rd Youngstown Ohio 44515 in Ruth’s name
