Ruth Cooper Mcnaughton

Ruth (Cooper) McNaughton, age 85, of Cortland, Ohio, died Monday, March 31, 2008, at the Hospice House in Poland, Ohio. She was born on November 7, 1922 in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of the late Troy Hamilton Cooper and the late Ethel (Favors) Cooper. Ruth was a 1941 graduate of Champion High School. She had worked at Packard Electric for twelve years and as a secretary for the Athletic Director at Howland High School for seventeen years before retiring in 1983. She was a charter member of the Emblem Club # 397 and enjoyed playing cards and golfing with her friends from the Elks. She is survived by her husband, James B. McNaughton whom she married in 1944; two sons, Jeffrey James McNaughton of Cortland and Kevin Scott McNaughton of Cortland; her twin sister, Rose Duche of Warren; one nephew, Gregory Duche and two nieces, Cheryl Ann Bucci and Judy Giltner. Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by two infant children; on brother, Arnold (Jane) Cooper, and two sisters, Marjorie (Wayne) Abernathy and Dorothy (John) Dziama. Also preceding her in death was her brother in-law, George Duche and one nephew, David Abernathy. Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the 11 AM memorial service on Thursday, April 3, 2008.
