There will be a funeral service 10 AM Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Canfield Chapel for Sally Ann Hammar who passed away Thursday evening at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Sally was born August 12, 1937 in Youngstown a daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Nugen) Eagleton. She retired from the Youngstown City Schools as a teacher after 30 years of service. While teaching, Sally earned the designation of Reading Specialist and earned her Master's in Education for Youngstown State University. Sally attended Old North Church in Canfield and loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Ernest A. Hammar, whom she married August 18, 1962; five children: Danielle Saker of Youngstown, Denise (Phillip) McCown of Boardman, Ernest "T.J." (Tammy) Hammar III of Boardman, Arick (Marnie) Hammar of Milford, and Dr. Matthew Hammar of Columbus; one sister Jean Gardner of Boardman and eight grandchildren. Besides her parents, Sally is preceded in death by her brother George William Eagleton. Friends may call from 4 PM until 7 PM Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Rescue Mission of Youngstown in Sally's name.
