Samuel J. David, Sr.

Samuel J. David, Sr., age 95, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016. Born May 30, 1920 in Newcomerstown, Ohio; he was the son of Elias and Nora (Kushfeh) David. Mr. David was a Mess Sergeant in the U.S. Army, having served in Africa and Italy. He was a life member of both the Am. Vets Post 44 and the VFW Post 9947; he was a member of St. Maron Church and the former Knights of Columbus. He retired in 1980 from the Youngstown City Street Department after 32 years of service where he worked as a Construction Foreman. Survivors include his beloved wife Anne M. (Stetar) David; son Samuel J. David, Jr.; a sister Rita Joseph; and a host of nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Fred, and sisters Adele and Eve. Friends will be received at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., on Wednesday from 4-7PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00AM on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at St. Maron Church, 1555 S. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, Ohio 44511. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
