Sandra Irene Williams

Austintown Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Youngstown for Sandra Williams who died Tuesday evening. Sandra was born September 19, 1937 in Youngstown, the only daughter of the late Frank J. and Vera (Timm) Schmidt and was a life long area resident. She attended Austintown public schools graduating in 1955, and then attended Trumbull Memorial School of Nursing graduating in 1958 where she worked five years as a surgical nurse. When her children became school age she became the school nurse at Austintown Fitch School where she retired 25 years later in 1993. she was a long time member of Austintown Community United Church of Christ, and more recent a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she taught first grade Sunday school class for several years. She was past president of the Philanthropic Educational Organization Chapter C.E. where she had served as scholarship chairperson for several years. She was also a member of the Saxon Club Choir for several years. Sandra enjoyed traveling, camping, oil painting, interior decorating, flower gardening and spoiling her grandchildren. Sandra is survived by her husband of 48 years, Edward O. Williams whom she married June 6, 1959, two sons; John (Jill) Williams of Hartville, Ohio and Scott (Teresa) Williams of Kodiak, Alaska; her brother Frank J. (Shirley) Schmidt and three grandchildren; Zachary, Graeme and Samantha Williams (finally got the girl she always wanted). Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel and from 10-11am Saturday at the church. The family asks that contributions be made to the PEO Scholarship Foundation. Burial will be in Brunstetter Cemetery in Austintown
