The Lord opened his heart and his arms to welcome Sharon Lee Weddell to join Him, after a courageous and long 10 year battle with metastasized breast cancer. Sharon went to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 4, 2011 with her family surrounding her at Omni Manor. Sharon was born February 6, 1947 to Murray T. and Mary Ulmer Weddell in Youngstown, OH. Sharon graduated in 1966 from Mineral Ridge High School. She entered the Burgman Workshop program and worked in housekeeping at YSU in the 1990's. Sharon found her new residence in June 2000 at Windsor House Omni Manor Youngstown. She blended well with everyone. People thought she was a visitor by helping with other residents and greeting visitors as they came in. She was known as the lady with the pink helmet. Dr. Knight once asked her what team she played for. He always tried to get her to paint a logo on it. Sharon enjoyed monthly meeting with the Mahoning Valley Epilepsy Group. UNW meetings at Richard Brown Methodist Church and Family's in Touch Mental Health Group. She volunteered each year at the Canfield Fair Epilepsy tent. She enjoyed outings with Omni Manor friends to shopping and bingo and the daily activities at Omni. Sharon's pleasing and cheerful attitude will be sadly missed by all that knew her. Sharon's survivors include sisters Noreen (John) Hughes of Masury and Jean (Michael) Kirkpatrick of Fredericktown; a special cousin Shirley (Don) Dull of Mineral Ridge who made weekly visits with Sharon at Omni; several other cousins, aunts and uncles. Two special nieces Cindy Jennings and fianc Mark Shelby of Hubbard, Kim Rotunna and Rico of Brookfield. The light of her life was her great nieces Alexandria Jennings and Courtney Jennings, Casey Rotunna and one special great nephew Rico Rotunna. The light of the life Prince her grandniece's dog. Preceding her in death were her parents. Sharon's family will receive friends and family at Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel on Saturday May 7, 2011 from 9 AM until 10 AM, where a funeral service will be held at 10 AM. Cremation will follow and Sharon will be laid to rest with her mother and father at Kerr Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard Brown Methodist Church, the Mahoning Valley Epilepsy Association or the American Cancer Society in Sharon's name. The family would like to express a gratitude of thanks to the staff, nurses, STN's, and all who took time to show her love and compassion at Omni Manor. To all who diligently showed acts of kindness and compassion at the Hope Center in Boardman and to her friends from Richard Brown who made sure she had a ride with them.
