Funeral services will be held 1 PM Thursday in Zion Lutheran Church for Shirley J. Wehr, 87, of Salem who passed away Monday afternoon surrounded by her family. Shirley was born April 2, 1922 in Canfield the daughter of W. Earl and Alta (Norris) Bancroft. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Shirley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1947, where she also taught Sunday school and was the secretary for the Sunday school program, and was also the superintendent of the Vacation Bible School. Shirley also served on the Altar Guild at the church. She was also a member of the Canfield Ruritan Auxiliary, and the Tippecanoe Altruistic Club. Her husband, Frank Harold Wehr whom she married June 7, 1943, passed away July 20, 1987. Shirley leaves two daughters; Sue Himes of Lisbon and Barbara (Ron) Rhodes of Salem, nine grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, one step great granddaughter and one step great-great granddaughter. Shirley also leaves her longtime companion; Frank Dustman of Salem and his wonderful family. Family and friends may call from 11 AM until 1 PM Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to MVI Hospice in Shirley’s name.
