Shirley M. Koby

Austintown- Shirley Koby entered into eternal rest May 18, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital Boardman Campus surrounded by her loved ones. Shirley was born July 23, 1933 in Youngstown the daughter of Albert and Dorothy Price. She had lived in Austintown, West Lake, Berea and Lady Lake, Florida. She was a 1951 graduate of Fitch High School where she excelled in studies and dance and was also a cheerleader. Shirley shared her life with her husband and best friend Kenneth Koby for 57 years raising four children. For years Shirley was the owner of Shirlee’s Beauty Salon and was also the CEO of Shirlee Kaye Enterprises in Ohio and Florida. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where her and Ken renewed their wedding vows for their 40th anniversary. She was also a PMCO in Aut Mori Caldron and past member of the Order of Eastern Star. Shirley had a smile for everyone, having many friends and enjoying all social activities. Her greatest joy was being with her family and grandchildren whenever possible. She will be sadly missed by her husband and best friend for 57 years Kenneth, sons; Kenneth Koby of Jacksonville, Florida, Dr. Bradley (Tina) Koby of Houston, Texas, daughters; Susan (Jack) Baker of Canfield and Christine (Jeff) Owen of Long Island, New York. She also is survived by her sister Jean (Bob) Richardson of Poland, nine grandchildren and one great grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church. Family and friends may call from 4-8 pm Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel and from 10 -11 am Saturday at the church prior to services. The family requests memorial contributions take the form of donations to the church.
