Smiley Wagner

Austintown- Funeral services will be 11 am Monday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Smiley Wagner who died Thursday morning at Greenbrier Nursing Home. Smiley was born November 25, 1914 in Marietta, OH the son of Waldo and Anna (Miller) Wagner. He was employed as a welder for Youngstown Sheet and Tube for over 30 years. Smiley was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army, working on B- 17s. He was active with the Youngstown Eagles #213, serving on local, district and state levels. He was awarded the “Eagle of the Year Award from the State of Ohio. He was also a member of the Lordstown Grange. Smiley is survived by his good friends and care givers, Jim and Beverly Griffiths of Salem. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred (Brauns) Wagner whom he married September 7, 1951 and who died June 16, 2003 and his brothers and sisters. Friends may call from 5-7 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
