Steele E. Silvis

Steele E. Silvis 83, of Niles passed away Thursday afternoon, October 31, 2007 in Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Steele was born January 6, 1924 in Shelocta PA, the son of Eric and Myrtie (McGaughy) Silvis and came to Ohio in 1956, settling in Niles in 1960.He retired in 1985 as a machinist from Grinnell ITT after 28 years of service. He was an army Veteral serving in the Korean Conflicy and then in the reserves for 4 1/2 years. Steele attended Fairview Methodist Church in Niles, his hobbies included gardening and working on jigsaw puzzles. He enjoyed traveling, but most of all, Steele loved spending time with his family. vSteele leaves his wife of 58 years, the former Betty Blystone, whom he married December 10, 1948. He also leaves one son Gregory Silvis of Chardon, two grand children; Lee Silvis of Vienna, and Jennifer (Richard) Coelho of Pulaski PA, one daughter-in-law Sue Silvis of Vienna, and two sisters; Nettie Rearick of Indiana PA, and Peg (Merle) Lukehart of Shelocta PA. Besides his parents, Steele is preceded in death by a son Jeffrey Silvis who passed away in 1985, four sisters, and five brothers. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 PM friday, November 2, 2007 at the Lane Funeral Home Niles Chapel. Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home Burial will be in Green Haven Cemetery.
