Austintown-- Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home-Austintown Chapel for Steve Stevens, age 79 of Austintown who died Sunday evening at Northside Hospital after a brief illness. Steve was born Sept. 23, 1927 in Briar Hill and was the son of Panko and Mary (Luczka) Wojtowicz. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and had received several medals during his service. After the war he worked as a recorder in the open hearth at U.S. Steel for over thirty years retiring in 1980. Steve loved to cook, and had prepared many large meals for holidays and other occasions and had also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. He had been a member of Honterus Lutheran Church, and was an honor member of the Saxon Club and a 27 Year member of the Saxon. Steve leaves his wife Elizabeth (Schuller) whom he married June 12, 1964, and his son Steve and his wife Lila of Lebanon, OH, and four grandchildren. A brother John Wojtowicz and three sisters Olga Thurik, Mary Lou Kasek, and Stella Trewella also survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter Suzette M. Frazzini and first wife Addie (Burnside) who passed away in 1962. Friends may call at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel from 6-8PM on Wednesday.
