Stewart Alberto White, Jr.

McDonald- Funeral services will be held 11:15 AM Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Girard for Stewart A. White, Jr. age 88 of McDonald who died late Saturday night. Stewart was born Nov. 10, 1920 in Canton and was the son of the late Stewart A. Sr. and Nellie (Taylor) White. He was an accomplished carpenter all of his life working for MacCallister and Morgan and then later became self employed. He retired in 1983 from Boilermakers Cleveland Local #744. Stewart was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Girard for over 50 years. He was wounded in Okinawa while serving in the U.S. Marine Corp., First Division Third Battalion during WWII. He was a pioneer in organizing the first Retarded Children Council in Trumbull County. He was a charter member and president of the council in the late 1950's. This council laid the ground work for the Fairhaven School and Workshop. Stewart is survived by his wife, the former Lillian White whom he married Dec. 27, 1937. He leaves four children, Stewart (Marlene) White of Boardman, Michael (Michelle) White of McDonald, Carole Kompanik and Elaine Borecki both of McDonald and 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Virginia Davis, his daughter Terry White and a granddaughter Mindy White. Friends may call at the Lane Funeral Home-Mineral Ridge Chapel from 5-8 PM Wed. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. The family requests that material contributions be made to the church.
