Susan G. Meermans

August 16, 1927 — February 21, 2008

Susan G. Meermans, age 80, of Howland Township died at 4:30 pm Thursday, February 21, 2008, at her home. She was born August 16, 1927 in Warren the daughter of the late Charles and Jessie (Cannon) Garman. Susan was a 1945 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and attended Baldwin Wallace College. She was the owner of the family business, Crown Hill Burial Park and Monument Company, for many years, retiring in 1978. Susan was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She was an avid gardener and a lover of trees. She enjoyed needlework, playing bridge and crossword puzzles. Susan was preceded in death on December 16, 2006 by her husband, Robert S. Meermans, whom she married in 1978. A sister, Wilda Jane Conley also preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Susan S. (Bruce) Dunn of Bucyrus and Mary Jane (George) Williams of Springfield, VA; two sons, Tunis C. (Georgeanne) Selby III of Columbia, SC and Edward C. (Ginger) Selby of Pickens, SC; two stepdaughters, Kathy (Willie Williams) Meermans of Philadelphia and Nancy Daniel of Oceanside, Calif.; one brother, James Garman of Wickliffe, OH and her first husband, Tunis C. Selby Jr. of Brevard, NC. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Christ Episcopal Church where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service that day. The Rev. Donna Maree will be officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Susan to Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St., Warren, OH 44483 or to Hospice of the Valley, 1296 Tod Place NW, Suite 202, Warren, OH 44485. Arrangements were handled by Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren.
