A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon Friday at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, for Sylvia J. Kidder, 68, of Canfield who passed away Saturday afternoon at UPMC. Sylvia was born November 29, 1941, in Devils Lake, ND on an Indian Reservation, the daughter of Kermit and Ruth Johnson. She was a long time Canfield resident and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Sylvia was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a major in English. She, along with her husband, were members of the Canfield Historical Society. She was an avid reader, gardener, and collector of antiques, but most of all Sylvia loved people, learning about how they became uniquely who they were. Sylvia is survived by her husband of 23 years David A. Kidder, whom she married in 1987 ; her daughter, Alexis Palmer and husband, Bill, of Dublin, Ohio; and three granddaughters; twins Madeleine and Grace, and Isabella Palmer; her brother, Bruce Johnson of Auburn, California. Besides her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by a sister Roberta Colt. The family will receive friends from 11 to noon on Friday at the funeral home.
