Thaddeus A. Siglow

Thaddeus “Ted” A. Siglow, of Brookfield, Ohio passed away on Saturday morning November 27, 2010 at 9:35 AM at the Sharon Regional Health Center in Sharon, PA following an extended illness. He was 87 years old. Mr. Siglow was born on February 24, 1923 in New Castle, PA a son of the late Anthony and Rose Szczyglowski. He survived the Great Depression and went on to work in the steel mill and would serve as a mechanic in the United States Army during World War II. Following the war Ted worked his way through college and would graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Youngstown College. He married his sweetheart the former Jane Czaczkoski on November 6, 1948 and shared more than sixty-two wonderful years with her until his death. Together they left New Castle and moved to Brookfield in 1972 where he would build his family’s home. A firm believer in service to others and up until the last few weeks of his life, he and Jane continued to deliver Meals on Wheels to others. He was an active member of his church, a volunteer at several local hospitals, and had been a Hospice volunteer for more than twenty-five years. Ted was always willing to do whatever he could to help others and he raised his children to follow his example. He enjoyed life, cherished time with his family, working outside, and would always find time to go fishing. Ted will be sadly missed by his loving family his wife Jane, brother AL Siglow of Pittsburgh, PA, by his six children Mary Ann Dugan of New Castle, PA, John Siglow of Marcellus, NY, Joan Foglesong of Fredericksburg, VA, Barb Cesarone of Sunrise, FL, Joe Siglow of Phoenix, AZ, and James Siglow of Salem, OH, fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday November 30, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 PM and again from 6:30-8:30 PM at the Madasz Funeral Chapel 6923 Warren-Sharon Road in Brookfield, OH. Closing prayers will begin at 9:15AM on Wednesday December 1, 2010 at the funeral home which will be followed by the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, St. Bernadette's Church at 7808 Locust Street Masury, OH 44438 with the Rev. Frank Zanni as celebrant. Burial will be at the Madonna Cemetery in New Castle, PA. As an expression of sympathy and in honor of Ted’s belief in service to others, the family requests that contributions be made to either the Catholic Relief Fund, the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley or Trumbull County, or to the Salvation Army.
