Theda Griffin

Cortland- Theda Irene Griffin, age 85, of Cortland, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. She was born on April 28, 1926 in Salem, OH, a daughter of the late Ray Dales and the late Edna Barnard Dales. Theda was a 1944 graduate of Fowler High School and was a member of the Fowler Community Church. Her husband, Harlan W. Griffin Sr., whom she married on September 7, 1947, preceded her in death on August 3, 1977. Together, the couple loved to go camping and bowling. However, Theda most enjoyed the time that she spent with her family. She is survived by two sons, Douglas (Cheryl) Griffin of Leavittsburg and Harlan "Griff" (Rosona Taranta) Griffin Jr. of Hume, CA; four daughters, Valerie (Paul) Carr Jr. of Cortland, Elaine (James) Akers of Warren, Marilyn Vitko of Leavittsburg and Janice (Robert) Kemmer of South Carolina; two brothers, Richard Dales of Conneaut Lake, PA and Glenn Dales of Mecca and a sister, Dorothy Dales of Mr. Vernon, OH. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Theda was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Dales Jr. and by two sisters, Genevieve Bundy and Bernice Tisler. Per her wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Dugan Cemetery in Fowler.
