Austintown- Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Thelma Aleen Collins, of Austintown, who died Monday afternoon at Briarfield Manor Nursing Home. She was born May 21, 1916 in Salina, PA, a daughter of David and Bessie (Bieghley) Link, and she came to this area as a child. She was a 1934 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and she worked for Packard Electric for 15 years doing factory and office work. She was also previously employed as a proof reader for the Niles Daily Times and she was a clerk in Grants, Carlisle and Adeline Shop in Niles. She was a member of Niles First Presbyterian Church, the Ida McKinley Chapter #229 of the Eastern Star (Now Opal Chapter #181), AARP Austintown Chapter #4339, and the 55+ Club of Mineral Ridge. She was a former member of the Original Christian Singles Club and of Young at Heart of Youngstown Baptist Church. She married Raymond Collins on June 19, 1948, and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1983. She is survived by two sons; David (Patricia) Collins of Austintown, with whom she made her home, and Dale (Kelley) Collins of Fletcher, NC. She also leaves a sister; Helen Hall of Newton Falls, and two grandsons; Raymond and Christopher Collins. Besides her husband, Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son Gary Raymond Collins; and two brothers; Miles and Buhel Link. Friends may call from 4-7 PM Thursday and 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home. The Eastern Star will hold a service at 7PM Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff a Briarfield Manor in Austintown for their special love and care to Thelma also a thanks to Celtic Hospice for their care.
