Theodore Howell, 89, of Warren, passed away Friday evening, October 15, 2010 at Gillette Nursing Home in Warren. Ted was born March 11, 1921 in Ambridge, PA the son of the late John and Anna (Bailas) Holefka. Ted graduated from Howland High School and attended the University of Alabama for pilot training while in the Army. He served our country during WWII as a fighter pilot in the Army Air Force and flew with the 79th fighter group, 87th fighter squadron. Ted worked briefly for Eastern Airlines and retired in 1982 from Copperweld Steel where he worked as a shipping foreman for many years. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golf and was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Ted is survived by his wife Erika M. (Egger) Howell of Warren whom he married July 1, 1947 and with whom he has shared 63 years of marriage, two sons, Gary T. Howell and Daniel L. (Jeanette) Howell both of Howland, grandchildren Brad Watkins, Aaron Howell, Melaney Howell, Melissa Carr, Dianna Howell, and Andrew Howell, a great grandson Dominic Cummins and two brothers, Frank Howell of Hanover, Pa and Rudy Howell of Bristol. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Erwin �Butch� Howell and by two brothers Stanley and Walter Howell. Cremation will take place and the Rev. James Dittmar will conduct a memorial service Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 2PM at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel where family and friends may visit for two hours prior to the service. Military honors will be observed at the funeral home.
