Theresa B. Oravec, 83 Canfield - A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 am Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, preceded by closing prayers at 9:30 am at Lane Family Funeral Homes Canfield Chapel, for Theresa B. Oravec who passed away Friday at Briarfield Manor. Theresa was born February 17, 1928 in Youngstown the daughter of the late John and Mary (Liptak) Gombida. She graduated from East High School in 1946 and began working for Ohio Bell as a telelphone operator. On June 17, 1950 she married Edward M. Oravec, with whom she spent 46 years of marriage before his passing in 1996. Theresa worked at Ohio Bell until the birth of her children Patricia A (Remias) and Jeffery E. She was a stay at home mom until they started school and then returned to Ohio Bell part-time. She continued her career at Youngstown Sheet & Tube's main office until it's closing. Theresa then went to work for the law offices of Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell as a receptionist and telephone operator until her retirement. Theresa was very involved with her faith, her community, and her friends. She was a member of St. Michael's Alter Guild. She also volunteered at Forum Health in Boardman and was a member of the Friends of Boardman Library. She still played cards monthly with her high school friends as well as with the Canfield card club. Theresa also assisted with the 1946 East High Reunion committee. Theresa leaves behind a daughter; Patricia A. (Howard) Remias of Canfield and a son Jeffery E. (Teresa) Oravec of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren: Jason E. (Sara) Bennett of Gahanna, with a great grand baby on the way, Kristan M. and Alexandra E. Oravec of Woodstock, GA, Mark H. (Jennifer) Remias of DeBary, FL; and Julie R. (John) Raad of Orlando, FL; great granddaughters Jenna and Julia Raad of Orlando, Fl. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Florence (Robert) Luginbill of Poland. Besides her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her husband Edward M. Oravec and her brothers Edward and Elmer Gombida. The family is grateful fr the consistent loving care provided by the nurses, aides, and administrators of Victoria House, to whom we all called her "angels" We take the time to celebrate her life as she has touched all of our lives in a way that we can never express. The family requests that material tributes take the form of donation to the Alzheimer's Network, 4214 Market St. Boardman, OH 44512 in Theresa's memory.
