Thomas A. Mullen, 79 of Howland Township died Sunday morning, June 15, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born August 23, 1934 in Edenburg, Pennsylvania the son of the late William Richard Mullen and Josephine Inez Root DiBell. Tom was an interstate truck driver for 56 years, working for 30 years until his retirement with C.J. Rogers Transportation in Detroit. He was a longtime member of the American Truck Association and a 56 year member of the Teamsters union. Tom was a wonderful man, who enjoyed all things "trucks". He loved pretty women, nice shoes and his kids. He loved flea markets, truck shows and antiquing. Tom loved to laugh, tell jokes and to flirt. He loved popcorn, westerns and watermelon. He loved country music, hot hot soup and brand new babies. He loved clowns, cook outs and bib overalls. He loved his family and his friends and will be loved and missed forever. Tom is survived by two sons, Thomas L. Mullen of Warren and Douglas E. Mullen of Niles; three daughters, Doris J. (Edward) Mullen-Homa of Cortland, Vickie J. (Dave) Plyler of Brookfield and Linda M. (James) Wagner of St. Paul, Minn.; four grandchildren, Adam M. and Natalie J. Wilson and Kelly L. and Trisha M. Mullen; 4 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; two sisters, Idell Elser of New York and Ruth Bingham of Roswell, New Mexico; five stepchildren, Jay (Mary Ann) Rhodes, Teresa (Thomas) Lelesch, Michael (Sherri) Rhodes, Melissa Rhodes and Tonia (James) DeZee; 18 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren and his close friend, Debbie. His second wife, Marlene Sutton Mullen, whom he married November 11, 1988 preceded him in death in 2002. Twin infant daughters, Barbara and Brenda Mullen and one sister, Diane Carpenter-Aaron have also preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the service will follow at 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Northview Cemetery in Gustavus.
