Thomas Doerr, 72, of Austintown, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born April 24, 1941, in Youngstown the son of Larry and Flora Mae Doerr. Thomas was a 1959 graduate of Chaney High School, an active member of Western Reserve United Methodist Church, and the Saxon Club. Thomas retired from North Coast Fire Protection in 2000, serving over 40 years as a sprinkler fitter over the course of his career. He enjoyed bowling at Wedgewood Lanes, gardening, playing bocce and cards and going to dinner with Marian. Thomas loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and traveling the U.S., including Alaska and Maine. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Marian, whom he married Nov. 30, 1963, two sons; Mark (Etta) Doerr, of Chicago and Thomas (Betsy) Doerr, of Boardman, five sisters; Jeanne (Smitty) Smith, of Lake Milton, Darlene (Cecil) Wells, of Austintown, Jackie (John) Havalo, of Hubbard, Jerrie (Tom) Mager, of Youngstown and Betsy (Danny) Stipanovich, of Austintown, seven grandchildren; Kyle, Nina, Zach, Lilia, Bailee, Tommy, Jayden and one great grandchild; Captain. Besides his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by a grandchild; Ember Rae. Friends will be received from 4:00pm-7:00pm on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel and again on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Western Reserve United Methodist Church from 10:00am until the time of the service. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00am at Western Reserve United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Western Reserve United Methodist Church, in Thomas's name.
