Thomas Baker of Lake Milton passed away Tuesday morning at his home. He was born August 21, 1923 in Pittsburgh, PA a son of the late Alois and Mary (Burke) Baker and moved to Lake Milton in 1950. He was the President of the Baker Co. for over 45 years. He started a construction company with his brother and built many homes in the area. Tom was a founding member of the American Legion Post 737 in Lake Milton and a member of the VFW. He was involved with the Civil Defense in the 1950’s and instrumental in implementing zoning in Milton Township during the middle 1950’s. Tom served in the United States Army during WWII, receiving a Battlefield Commission and the Purple Heart. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife the former Margaret Huffman whom he married May 17, 1975; five daughters: Joanne (Harry) Derrow and Sue (Bill) Lemmon both of Lake Milton, Dianne (Bill) Purnell and Darlene (Rich) Schaefer both of Austintown and Kathie (Terry) Bardwell of Hudson; one sister: Mary (Chuck) Beight of Lake Milton; three brothers: Aloysius (Ruth) and Bob (Pat) Baker both of Lake Milton, and Ron Baker of Cortland; eight grandchildren: Erik, Kipp, Shelly, Kim, Kris, Doug, Katie, and Kelsey; and six great grandchildren: Lily, Dustin, Jemma, Chloe, Tommy, and Justin. He will be truly missed and never forgotten by his whole family and all of his friends and family will cherish his memory. Friends may call from 5-8 Thursday evening and from 10 – 11 AM Friday morning at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday. The family would like to thank the staff of Forum Health Hospice and request that donations be made to them in Tom’s name.
