Thomas R. Williams

Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home Niles Chapel for Thomas R. Williams, 84, who died Wednesday evening at his residence. He was born January 12, 1926 in Niles, a son of Clyde and Irene (Brown) Williams, and he resided in this area all of his life. He was a 1943 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WW II. He worked for LTV Steel in Warren as a furnace operator for 40 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Niles. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and he was very devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren. Tom was a kind and loving man and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Luella Knai, whom he married March 17, 1945. He also leaves behind three children; Karen (Tom) Connelly of Niles, Pat (Mike Witzky) Williams of Marysville, and Bryan (Lisa) Williams of Niles; nine grandchildren; Tom Connelly, Megan Connelly, Alex and Abra Williams- Witzky, Ben Williams, Matthew Williams, Sarah (Jason) Catania, Jon Witzky, and Erin Witzky; and a great granddaughter, Ava Catania. He was preceded in death by a brother Leonard Williams. Friends may call for one hour prior to services from 10-11am Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in Tom's memory.
