Thomas S. Galati of Brookfield, OH, died on Saturday (06-27-2009) at Sharon Regional Hospital after a brief illness. He was 80 years old. Mr. Galati was born July 28, 1928 Hubbard, OH a son of Thomas G. & Amiela (Pratt) Galati. He married the former Janet L. Seburn on July 3, 1954 and together they have shared over fifty-four years of marriage. Mr. Galati had served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. His decorations included the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Tom went on to found Galati Sales and Service in Brookfield, OH in 1973. He continued to operate the business until his retirement in 1999. Tom was a proud member of the Copper Penny Masonic Lodge #778 in Vienna, Scottish Rite in Youngstown, the Al Koran Shrine, the Trumbull Shrine, and was an associate member of the Sharon Fraternal Order of Police. In his free time he enjoyed mowing his lawn feeding his fish and taking trips to Mountaineer, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Galati is survived by his wife Janet; his son Robert Galati and his wife Judy of Brookfield, OH; his daughter Sally Kolat and her husband Lonnie of Brookfield, OH; his brother Kenneth Galati of Hubbard, OH; three sisters Frances Marrokal, Antonette Foltz, and Virginia Harper and her husband Jay all of Hubbard, OH; and three grandchildren Melissa Kolat, Lonnie Kolat Jr., and Chad Kolat. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Frank Galati. Calling hours will be held Thursday evening July 2, 2009 at the Lane Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel, Brookfield, Ohio from 5-8 PM. A Masonic Service will begin at 8PM followed by a funeral service immediately after. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Scholarship Fund of Copper Penny Lodge #778 c/o Copper Penny Lodge #778 PO Box #463 Vienna, OH 44473.
