Lake Milton- Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM Wednesday in St. Maron Catholic Church for Thomas A. “Tom” Fares of Driftwood Ave. in Lake Milton who passed away late Friday evening at his residence. Tom was 88. Tom was born on November 24, 1916 in Trenton, New Jersey. Tom was the son of Zab and Lulu T. (Shaleta) Fares. Tom was the Chief Building Inspector for Mahoning County for 40 years. Tom was also owner of Fares Cones in North Jackson, manager of Elms Ballroom and the Idora Park Ballroom. Tom attended St. Maron Catholic Church in Youngstown and was a member of Old Gang, Crime Clinic of Greater Youngstown, Jackson-Milton Foundation of which he was a founding member, YMCA, and the Carpenter’s Union. Tom enjoyed boating. Tom leaves four children: Pam (David) Snowden of North Jackson, April (David) Wright of Marietta, GA, Cathy (Donald) Dietrick of Kent, OH, and Thomas A. Fares Jr. of North Jackson; four sisters Rose Marie Burkett of Youngstown, Mary Eckel of Trenton, New Jersey, Mae Fares, of Austintown, and Martha Howard of Girard; one brother Maron Fares of Youngstown, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his son Charles Timothy Fares, two sisters Delia Hanna, and Agnes Sovak, and brothers Buddy and James Fares. Family will receive friends from 4 until 8 PM Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel where closing prayers will take place at 9:30 AM Wednesday Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Jackson-Milton Foundation c/o Board of Education Jackson-Milton Schools in Tom’s memory.
